Baby Jubilee entered the world at 8:58 am on September 5, in the middle of Rosh Hashanah. This is fitting for a child whose name (in both Jewish and Christian traditions) marks a time of a joy and a brand new year of forgiveness. Jubilee's entrance into this world is indeed something to rejoice over. The literal meaning of her name in the Septuagint is "trumpet-blast of victory," which I felt each time her smitten parents kissed her on the forehead and wiggled her incredible, tiny, perfect toes.
This newborn shoot was especially meaningful for me because I have known Grace since the end of college. Some of my favorite post-graduation memories involve biking to Maple View Farms with Grace, dreaming out loud into the wind and sharing stories of our past. We hit all those markers of adulthood around the same time: graduation, falling in love, marriage. Sharing our differing experiences of those markers has been a constant encouragement for me over the last four years. And even though Grace has now reached a new marker ahead of me with motherhood, I still love listening to her as she shares her new adventure with me.
Grace and Michael (and Jubilee), thank you for giving me the opportunity to spend time with you and photograph your beautiful family. Sharing has always been a huge part of our relationship, and it was a blessing to share in your daily life with your daughter and give these photos to you. I am so excited for you in this new part of your story and can't wait to see what is in store for the three of you in the coming years. Love you guys!
