The Birth Collective welcomed spring with an breezy maternity session with MK in downtown Durham’s Central Park. MK is expecting her second child in May, and as a doula and childbirth educator herself, I enjoyed picking her brain about her work and own birth plan.
MK’s husband and three-year-old son joined us for this shoot, which is always refreshing for maternity sessions. There are only so many poses a mama can do alone without looking staged and Pinteresty, so it was fun to capture the natural moments that occurred among this cute family. One of the reason’s MK decided to hire a birth photographer in the first place was to capture those first interactions among the siblings, and it was fun to see big brother love on his mama’s belly. Even if an ice cream bribe was involved…
MK and crew, thanks so much for inviting me to capture you during this exciting stage of life! I am pumped about the big day in May (or June…whenever your little one decides it’s time to greet the world!). I hope you love these pictures and the many more to follow in just a few short weeks!

A big thanks to my intern Ashton Songer for your assistance and made reflector skills. :)
